Mark Barry - First Solo Exhibition @ Etain Hickey Collections

Recently an exhibition of Mark Barry's work was on display at Etain Hickey
Collections in Clonakilty. His first solo exhibition was recieved well, the
opening being a great success.
Mark brought to the exhibition a collection of pictures worked in pencils, pastels and
oil paint. The drawings of West Cork, were (in my opinion) a candid personal viewpoint
which only Mark could capture. His Oil's were moody and expressed great depth of vision.
Colours were mixed well taking the viewer from the middle to the edges of the canvas.

Mark Barry lives in Clonakilty and is in his early 30's. Mark has always had a great
interest in sketching but never more so than in the last few years. Mark is unable to
work due to Epilepsy which resulted from a brain tumor which was discovered when he
was 14. The Proceeds from his first very successful exhibition last month will go
towards a downstairs extension in the family home (mark fell down stairs recently and
hit his head which had led to a weakness on the right side, luckily he is left handed).
Mark is a self taught and still learning. As an artist Mark gets his inspiration from the
surrounding costal areas and countryside. Mark loves listening to music, fishing and
"meeting the people"
